About Henna - FAQ

~What is Henna?
The powdered leaf of the Lawsonia Inermis bush, used for hair dye and temporary skin art.

~How Long Does It Last? 
Depending on placement & how long you leave the paste on, 1-4 weeks.

~Can It Wash Off?
NOT! The henna dye stains the top layer of skin cells, so it has to come off as your skin regenerates.

~From Where Does Henna Originate?
3,700 BC in Egypt, Ugarit & the Holy Land, the story is that Egypt gifted henna to India around the 1600’s.

~What Colors Does henna Make?
Bright Orange, Dark Red to Deep Burgundy & Eggplant Purple. The bright colors in my photos come from the body paints I apply to the hennaed area.

~LemonSugarHenna refers to 3 ingredients I use.
My henna is lab tested & free of metals and dyes. I add sugar, lemon juice & locally made 100% pure NM Lavender  oil. Embellishment options include; Temptu Dura Shimmer body paint, acrylic body glue, cosmetic grade glitter & crystal rhinestones.



** This is an example of the henna paste on the left resulting in the stain on the right. The paste is left on for 6-8 hours then scraped off. The stain on the right comes in within 48 hours and lasts 4 weeks. (Note stains on palms and feet come in darkest and last the longest.)

~HOW IS IT DONE ?
My henna is applied freehand, no stencils, from a small handmade tube like icing a cake. Designs may be laid out before henna with water and watercolor pencil, which does not affect henna stain.
The longer henna paste is left on the skin, the darker a stain it will create. 8-12 hours = best!
A lemon-sugar seal is sprayed on the henna.
DO NOT WET THE PASTE WHILE IT’S ON THE SKIN!
To remove henna, pick/rub off  what you can &use a dry washrag with olive oil to remove the excess paste.
Try not to wet the deisgn for 6-8 hours after paste removal.

~HENNA CANNOT BE WASHED OFF! 

~PLEASE NOTE:
• Those with G6PD may NOT receive henna.
• I will not henna childreun under 6, their skin may be sensitive to the Lavender oil in my henna.
• If you are pregnant please check my ingredients with your doctor before receiving henna.
